Clearly visible in this photo are the parrals of the gaff jaws implying a European style rigging. The swivel canon was milled to size here in Hawaii. Framing the canoe is a border inlaid with what is a typical Polynesian design, namely triangles of very dark and light colored koa.

The running rigging on this model allows for he sails to be hauled aloft. In this it is assisted by a number of well proportioned double and triple blocks. The koa hulls are capped by very dark figured koa and joined with washstrakes cut out of Ahakea wood. The table , built by FP ,is of a design befitting the gracious curves of the canoe. The legs are koa, the aprons maple framed with eucalyptus, and the table top itself is laminated with birds eye maple and inlaid with a typical Polynesian design.
